Portable: Fxg Trainer

Note: FXG Trainer is legacy software (Flash-based). This guide assumes you have the portable .exe or self-contained folder version. It is often used for sprite rigging, FBF (frame-by-frame) animation, and simple bone setups.

1. Getting Started with the Portable Version What "Portable" Means

No installation required. Runs from USB drive, cloud folder, or local C:\Tools\ . Settings save locally inside the same folder (not in Windows Registry).

First Launch

Extract the downloaded .zip or .7z archive. Run FXG_Trainer_Portable.exe (or similarly named executable). If Windows SmartScreen blocks it, click "More info" → "Run anyway" . A folder named FXG_Data or PortableSettings will be created next to the .exe – do not delete it .

⚠️ Antivirus may flag older portable executables (false positive due to packer). Verify the source before running.

2. Core Interface Overview (Portable Layout) | Section | Purpose | |---------|---------| | Canvas | Main drawing/animation area | | Timeline | Layers and frames (left-to-right) | | Library | Symbols, imported images, FXG assets | | Properties | Transform, color, bone constraints | | Bone Tool | Left toolbar (looks like a joint) | Portable version often has a slightly stripped-down toolbar compared to installed version. fxg trainer portable

3. Essential Workflows A. Setting Up a Character Rig (Basic Bones)

Import artwork as FXG or PNG (File → Import → To Library). Drag symbol from Library to canvas. Select Bone Tool (shortcut: B ). Click on the shoulder → drag to elbow → release → drag to wrist. Test bones : Switch to Selection Tool ( V ) and move the hand – the arm should follow.

B. Frame-by-Frame Animation

Create a new layer (right-click timeline → New Layer). Draw frame 1. Press F6 (Insert Keyframe) – copies previous frame. Modify drawing. Repeat. Use F5 to add empty frames (extends duration without drawing).
