Kaori’s journey begins in tragedy. Following the death of her brother Hideyuki, she steps into the dangerous world of Shinjuku’s underworld not out of a desire for violence, but out of a sense of duty and a need for connection. This transition is pivotal; she exchanges a conventional life for one of "cleaning" the city's streets. Her presence introduces a unique dynamic to the series: the "100-ton hammer." While used for slapstick comedy to punish Ryo’s "mokkoris" (lecherous outbursts), the hammer symbolizes her role as the arbiter of Ryo’s morality.
