HEN 4.89 consumes approximately 6MB less RAM than later HEN versions. While that seems small, for memory-heavy games in combination with a loaded MultiMAN cover database, this difference prevents out-of-memory errors (error 80010006).

Before we dive into why it is "better," let’s decode the jargon.

Without webMAN running in the background, multiMAN will load successfully on the first try.

Do not install multiMAN before HEN. Start with a clean official firmware 4.89. Then install HEN 4.89 via the HFW (Hybrid Firmware) method. Only after HEN is successfully enabled should you install the multiMAN ver 04.85.01 (BASE) CEX.pkg .
