We all know the pain of the default FSX lights. You press the strobe button, and a generic, blurry 2D sprite pops out of the wing. It looks like a decal stuck to your screen rather than a light existing in the world. It has no depth, no volume, and certainly no "shock and awe." It breaks the immersion immediately.
