The Kingdom of Heaven is set in the 11th century, during the tumultuous period of the Crusades. The story revolves around Balian (played by Orlando Bloom), a French blacksmith who becomes embroiled in the Siege of Jerusalem. As the Crusader army, led by King Guy of Lusignan (played by Marton Csokas), lays siege to the city, Balian finds himself at the forefront of the battle, fighting alongside the defenders of the city.
