This happens because the underlying IntelliJ platform changed dramatically after 2022.1.1.
The first version of Android Studio, version 0.1, was released in May 2013. This early version introduced a basic IDE with features like code completion, debugging, and project management. Android Studio 0.2 (June 2013) added support for Google Play services and the Android SDK.
